It is with mixed emotions that I share with you the decision made by the members of Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church during our congregational meeting on April 8, 2018. From a recommendation by the Trustees, and the full support from myself, the church agreed to join in the ministry efforts of
The Journey East Peoria.
The journey to this decision was not an easy one. The memories of salvations, baptisms, worship, Vacation Bible Schools, Gospel sings, fellowships, softball games, Sunday School classes, movie nights, Christmas Eve services, weddings, baby showers, work nights, game nights, and pastor’s pancakes bring many emotions. As I reflect on former members, deacons, and pastors, I understand the rich history and longevity the church has had in the community. It is with recognition of our history and eye on the future that we have reached this decision.
Several years ago, CCSBC participated in the Experiencing God Bible study and heard the statement: “find out where God is at work and join Him there.” We recognize there is a great need in this community and we strongly feel that we can better minister to this community when we join forces and minister together with The Journey. Through our conversations with Pastor Brock at the Journey, and seeing what God is doing around us, it was clear that we should not delay this process. This does not negate what God has done at CCSBC, for Scripture says that “everything God does will remain forever.”
In knowing that the ministry at Creve Coeur Southern Baptist Church has been fulfilled, we will have our transition service on April 29, 2018 at 10:30 a.m.
I want to thank Bro. Curt Bier for serving with me and leading us in worship for the last six years. I also want to thank our deacons for serving and watching over me as I lead Christ’s church. Lastly, I want to personally thank you for calling me to be your pastor 10 years ago. The friendships and memories created endure any name change, or church building, and I look forward to worshipping and ministering with you at The Journey.
In Christ,
Pastor Eric
